When the weather warms up (if it ever does) I like to wear a divided petticoat under my summer dresses. To this end I have just run up a short divided petticoat using the “Tap Pants” pattern from Simplicity 8486. I used a plain White Crepe de Chine and some beautiful scallop lace from my stash. I worked very narrow french seams throughout and a simple double turned casing for the narrow elastic at the waist. For the lace trim I lined the edge of the lace up with the hem line then worked a narrow zig-zag stitch on the scallop before cutting away the crepe de chine behind. I am delighted with the result and plan to make another divided petticoat using a fine cotton lawn.
